recycled crayons

March 30, 2011

On the hunt for Spring break projects to keep your little ones as busy as the bees?  Recycle their crayons!  Have your kids place the broken crayons in rubber baking molds.  They will enjoy sorting the crayons into the molds and watching the colors bend as they bake.   Place the newly molded crayons in a plexiglas bowl for a colorful center piece.  Your kids will further enjoy creating a gallery of masterpieces!

Bake @ 300 for 10 minutes or until completely melted.

make a snow globe!

December 23, 2009

All you need is a gadget, glue, glitter & water!  A great party project.  Have their friends simply bring a small toy they won’t mind recycling.

Step 1:  Collect & clean all materials.

Step 2:  Glue toy to the underside of jar lid with a waterproof epoxy glue and set aside to dry.  A green option to glue is Eco Glue.

Step 3:  Add the glitter & water along with a few droplets of white vinegar to prevent mold.

Step 4:  Glue around the threaded rim of the jar and lid.  Screw tightly!

Setp 5:  Shake, Shake, Shake!!!

store up for winter

December 7, 2009

Store all those goodies Santa brings your way with these playful kids storage kits.  These sturdy toy storage bins integrate into many of P’kolino furniture products for added organization.  They can be easily removed and replaced with another play kit for a simple way to change the activity and to organize your child’s toys.  Small enough to fit on most shelves and large enough to hold art supplies, coloring books, blocks or small toys.  They are also a fabulous storage system even if you don’t have another P’kolino furniture piece to use them in.  A beautiful combination of playfully colored toy storage bins and natural wood lids makes these Play Kits desirable for any age group.  For a fabulous color statement in a playroom, bedroom or office, stack various colored bins on top of one another.
